It is a disease that affects the retina of children born preterm. This tissue is the lining of the back of the eye where the images are sent to the brain. When a baby is born before 37 weeks of pregnancy, your blood vessels of the keratin are still under development. The vascularization of the retina occurs in the last months of pregnancy. Thus birth prematurely, the vessels do not grow normally, says Dr Gerardo Garcia, ophthalmologist and retinologists.
