Very often, new parents just take the recommendations of other parents around them and keep the pediatrician’s number handy for use when their child gets ill. It just never strikes them that they ought to check out the pediatrician. After all, every parent has different expectations and what suits somebody else may just not be what you are looking for. 

My husband was transferred a lot when I was pregnant and then after our son was born. Before even getting to the new city, I got the phone numbers of all the pediatricians in the neighborhood and set up appointments with them. The first thing I did was to visit them personally and settled on the best one only after I had asked a whole lot of questions and was satisfied with the answers. It did mean a whole lot of extra work but the peace of mind that I got was definitely worth it! I knew that no matter what time of the day or night my son was ill, dependable help was just a phone call away.</description>
