Vitamin DMinister Ab Klink (Public Health) leaves the House Thursday in a letter that he believes that young parents need advice about supplements, because these babies are less vitamin D than the recommended amount ingested. Klink believes that babies who are bottle-fed, enough vitamin D should be given.

Klink was reacting to earlier opinions of the Health Council which among other things to the health benefits that taking folic acid and vitamins D, K and B12 may have. The Minister believes that not all opinions are directly applicable. He asked the Food Centre therefore take this into a practical workable directive on the use of vitamin D. Klink also will keep track of how it is with the vitamin D in the blood of at risk as elderly, children, people with dark skin and not everyone comes out regularly.

Look beyond the minister whether he can free up money for research into vitamin A. The Health Council will inter alia, whether a low intake of vitamin A is really a shortage of vitamin A cause and whether the risk of a fracture by osteoporosis increases if too much vitamin A is taken.
